Surrender

The Yoga Shala in Seminyak is an Iyengar school that I attended yesterday. A stunning un-walled space that could hold perhaps 40 people, though we were only four in the evening class.
An ex-pat teacher named Christine took our group in a Beginners Level two session, and a very nice one it was, too.
Iyengar classes aren’t everyone’s cuppa but they do feel like they are quality-controlled because the teachers are certified.
Christine told me that she was nervous about my being in the class. The penny dropped for her when she recognised me from the cover of Australian Yoga Life. (I had the same gear on as in that photo.)
As for nerves, she might not understand that it’s just wonderful surrender into someone else’s capable hands 🙂
Here’s the sequence we did:
Supta baddha konasana
Chanting
At the ropes
-Adho mukha svanasana, heels on wall
-Uttanasana
Parsvottanasana, back heel to wall, hands on blocks in 3 different positions x 2
Parivrtta Trikonasana, with blocks & then without x 3
Prasarita Padottanasana with blocks
Tadasana
Adho mukha svanasana
Chair backbend – dwipada viparita dandasana, hands on top of chair, feet on two blocks
Bharadavajasana on chair x 2
Salabhasana, with variations, x 4
Partner adho mukha svanasana, sacrum stretch
Pawanmuktasana, then one-leg at a time
Savasana

  1. What a lovely time you are having, missing nothing here in Sydney, rain, rain, rain. Can’t wait to get to Bali and find this place. Take care, Tania
