One of seven inspiring translator/commentators with whom I’ve been spending time every night since I took on my ‘A Sutra a Day’ project is Georg Feuerstein.
I was sorry to hear that he passed away on August 25, 2012 in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada, where he enjoyed a quiet life on the prairies with his wife, Brenda.
Perhaps because I am older than Feuerstein when he died, I consider him much too young to go. But more importantly, as a scholar of considerable renown, a yoga practitioner from his adolescence, and a prolific writer, his contribution to yoga in the West has been monumental. His wisdom as a mature practitioner and teacher will be sorely missed.
Hi Brenda,
I know great people live on through their writing and film and other work, but it’s not the same as someone’s physical presence.
I’m very sorry for your loss.
Kindly,
Eve
Thank you, Eve, for this beautiful post. Many blessings for your continued contribution to Yoga in the West.
