Surya Namaskar – Simple Salutes
Safe, approachable and yet energetic...that's a great goal to aim for in doing this practice that includes Salutes to the Sun, Surya Namaskar. In this class, we start by doing a chair-supported version because when we are more elevated, there's a greater likelihood for freedom and lightness of movement.
Then, we advance to a more weight-bearing version of the salutes, with hands on blocks or on the floor.
In this class, there is a happy mix of breathwork, balancing and strengthening poses and finishing with a restorative posture called setu bandhasana, that is, bolster-supported bridge.
Enjoy!

Parivrtta Trikonasana – Backbends and Twists
Certain families of poses seem to go together naturally. Think of forward bends and backbends, and pranayama and meditation.
Backbends and twists seem to complement each other well. In both of these, we give much attention to lengthening the spinal column, using the support of the legs and breathing consciously.
In this 75-minute practice, the emphasis is on the standing pose, Parvivrtta Trikonasana, the twisting version of Trikonasana, using a chair to help with balance and thoughtful rotation of the spine.

Legs up the wall – Viparita Karani
Viparita Karani, also known as Legs Up the Wall, is a favourite among many yoga practitioners because it is so soothing that you will come out of it refreshed. Using a bolster under the hips makes the pose more accessible and restful. Some of the organs of the body that benefit from doing Viparita Karani regularly are: heart, lungs, kidneys, stomach and spleen. If you want to make the pose more of an inversion, you can add folded blankets to the bolster to give more height.

Lateral Expansion Breathing II
This 75-minute class emphasizes lateral expansion in breathing. The intention is to keep the ribcage supple and to improve lung activity.Breathing capacity can start declining in our mid-thirties. Lack of movement is a big contributor to this happening. It can also happen because we are beginning to lose bone density, which makes the ribcage smaller and limits lung expansion. Our diaphragms, too, can weaken over time and reduce how much air we take in when we inhale. However, we can minimize impairment to our lungs and keep them in optimum working condition by staying active and doing yoga breathing exercises. Regular practice of yoga asanas keeps the lungs and ribs functioning efficiently. The good part about breathing exercises is that anyone can do them, anywhere. They are the most accessible and simplest way to work on strengthening our lungs.

Yoga for Core Strengthening – Abdominals, Balancing, Standing Poses
Standing poses in yoga are known to help strengthen our feet, legs and hips. The beauty is that these postures are accessible to even those taking up yoga for the first time.
It's always great to wake up the core muscles--abdominals, buttocks and hip stabilisers--first so we have a firm foundation to work with in the standing poses.
Adding a few balancing exercises as well will guarantee a steady and graceful practice.
Enjoy all these elements coming together seamlessly in this 75 minute program.

Breathing Essentials- Vinyasa (Flow)
This 75 minute class is designed to wake up the muscles that make for easeful backbending poses. When the gluteus medius, minimus and hamstrings support an even arching of the spine, there is less stress and effort. You will get to enjoy more of the benefits of these valuable postures: stimulation of the nervous system, opening the lungs and correction of stooped posture.

Restorative. Part Two- Self Care
In this 75 minute class you will be doing a combination of passive, restorative poses and slightly more active ones--to create a balanced practice.
The good thing about this type of practice is that you aren't sacrificing anything when you choose rest over being continuously on the go. Rather, your are saying 'no' to busyness and you are saying 'yes' to self-care.
