'Ultimate' Yoga is Coming

Birds on a fence in a winter landscape

When ‘Ultimate’ is a noun

In the U.S. where I was born, there’s a word–snowbirds–to describe people who head for warmer climes when the first hint of winter chill infuses the air.

For some of us, this is the ultimate lifestyle–never ever having to experience snow, wind and ice. Others might want to enjoy the snow-and-cold experience, but only in the ski fields when winter evenings feature warm fires and mulled wine.

My smart housemates, Heather and Rick, just before they flip the calendar to June 1st, routinely head for the north American summer season. I’ve always admired and  envied the way they avoid Australian winters, which are arguably mild, but still winter.

At last, and for the first time, Daniel and I are going to do the snowbird thing in Australia. On June 10th we will set off in a northerly direction, starting our four-month camping journey. To this end, we’ve upgraded our car to an all-wheel drive with a diesel engine. And, last week, with much advice and hand-holding from camper van and motorhome guru Collyn Rivers, we purchased an ‘Ultimate’ camper trailer.

The camper is small, rugged and will provide us with creature comforts, like a king size bed, kitchen and dinette.

If you know me, you will know that there will be yoga practice happening along the way–from northern New South Wales to the Daintree, out to the Northern Territory and down through The Centre. Maybe with a little luck, I will be able to present some workshops along the way, or at least make some campers happy wherever we stop.

“Yoga with Eve Grzybowski” blog will be mobile, instead of ‘Sharing from the Shed, I will be sharing from parts of Australia I have yet to discover. I’m very excited!

Today I had a little dress rehearsal atop the ‘Ultimate’, and while it’s not as comfortable as the Yoga Shed, I think I can make it work. Have a look:

    • Hi Cherise,
Thanks for suggesting that you might host a w/s for me. I’d be honoured. At the moment I have no idea of our itinerary, when or where we will be travelling, except in the most general way.
Let’s stay in touch. In the meantime, be well, be happy!
