Sunset over Scotts Farm

Daniel and I have been country residents now for about nine weeks now. That means that I’ve probably logged in about 60 6 am yoga practices in the Shed. I’ve hardly missed a morning…me who used to love to do my yoga practice in the afternoons to put myself back together after the stresses and strains of the early part of the day. It sounds odd, I suppose, that yoga teachers need to put themselves back together. (At least they have the tools that all the kings horses and all the kings men were lacking.) I don’t mean to dash your projections if you have any, but yoga teachers are people, too. In fact, maybe yoga teachers are more prone to burn-out than others just because they can put themselves back together, if you know what I mean. Another case of teaching most what you need to learn.
Here on beautiful Mitchells Island, in the Yoga Shed, I notice I have slowed down, relaxed, and discovered more of my own rhythm. There are fewer disturbances here that might stir up your citta vrtti, those pesky mental rip tides. At the same time, there are so many more things to delight in, as simple as an astonishing lavender sunset pulling on your heartstrings.
