Finishing School

Yoga isn’t everything. I don’t mean to be an iconoclast, but the truth is that Life is also a very good teacher, and there are many good teachers in the world who are not strictly speaking yogis. Think Nelson Mandela or Aung San Suu Kyi or Mother Teresa.
I’m going to spend this weekend with two of my favourite teachers at a workshop called Love, Intimacy and Sexuality. Back in 1991 I attended my first one of these workshops, which are presented on different themes, and it changed my life forever.
I know people say that sort of thing, but what can I say, it’s true. What was it that happened?
For one thing, I adopted the organisation’s (HAI) mission statement which is a quite challenging one. It didn’t happen all at once. It’s happened over 20 yrs. It’s provided a “finishing school” for my yoga practices. What I mean by that is I experienced heart openings that I never knew were possible. Interestingly, the HAI mission statement dovetails and echos Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, as I understand them.
If I’ve piqued your interest, have a look at the Australian website link for information about the workshops and facilitators.
